A new Channel 7 cadet!

b9O3xuzJWe thought TV News Cadetships were a thing of the past, so it was great to see Channel Seven roll out a fantastic new program this year.. taking on seven cadets for a two-year structured cadetship program, one in each major capital city and two in regional Queensland, from July 2015.

A brilliant opportunity.

Congratulations to one of the lucky 7, Mackenzie Ravn, who completed our ‘Reach your Broadcast Potential’ course this year. Mackenzie will start her TV reporting career in the Maroochydore newsroom for Seven Queensland next month.

Congratulations also to Channel Seven for resurrecting cadetships and investing in journalism.

Seven news director Rob Raschke told online news website Crikey that he knows what’s it’s like to be a cadet and learn from that process.

“It was really hands-on, and that’s what we aim to have. Our intention is that within two years — and it is a two-year cadetship — those people will be moving into important and meaningful  jobs within the Seven network.”

In the meantime, look out for Mackenzie Ravn on your telly next time you’re on the Sunshine Coast!
